When you look at the front page cover of a magazine what do you expect to see? Do you expect a celebrity, a world heritage site… Would you have ever expected to see yourself?

Mungo Thomson’s artworks encourage us to look outside of our expectations and reconsider how we view ourselves. In his works, Thomson engages with how time is archived, chronicled, and immortalised through pop culture media. If our faces were projected worldwide, what message would be attached? What idea would you represent?

Mungo Thomson is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the boundaries of perception, inviting viewers to examine our place within a fast-paced, over-stimulated world.

Thomson’s artistic practice is characterised by an innovative use of various media, including sculpture, installation, photography, and video. He often employs found objects and images, repurposing them to disrupt established narratives and challenge viewers’ preconceptions.

Through his work, he invites us to question, explore, and ultimately, to see the world in new and unexpected ways – reflecting on our roles within it.
